Matthew 26:36–56 (LEB)
36Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
37And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be distressed and troubled.
38Then he said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me.”
39And going forward a little he fell down on his face, praying and saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
40And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “So, were you not able to stay awake with me one hour?
41Stay awake and pray that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak!”
42Again for the second time he went away and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will must be done.”
43And he came again and found them sleeping, for they could not keep their eyes open.
44And leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same thing again.
45Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46Get up, let us go! Behold, the one who is betraying me is approaching!”
47And while he was still speaking, behold, Judas—one of the twelve—arrived, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48Now the one who was betraying him had given them a sign, saying, “The one whom I kiss—he is the one. Arrest him!”
49And he came up to Jesus immediately and said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed him.
50And Jesus said to him, “Friend, do that for which you have come.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and arrested him.
51And behold, one of those with Jesus extended his hand and drew his sword, and striking the slave of the high priest, cut off his ear.
52Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place! For all who take up the sword will die by the sword.
53Or do you think that I cannot call upon my Father, and he would put at my disposal at once more than twelve legions of angels?
54How then would the scriptures be fulfilled that it must happen in this way?”
55At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs, as against a robber, to arrest me? Every day in the temple courts I sat teaching, and you did not arrest me!
56But all this has happened in order that the scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then the disciples all abandoned him and fled.

John 6:60–71 (LEB)
60Thus many of his disciples, when they heard it, said, “This saying is hard! Who can understand it?”
61But Jesus, because he knew within himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this cause you to be offended?
62Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending where he was before?
63The Spirit is the one who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
64But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)
65And he said, “Because of this I said to you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by the Father.”
66For this reason many of his disciples drew back and were not walking with him any longer.
67So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to go away also, do you?”
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69And we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”
70Jesus replied to them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is the devil?”
71(Now he was speaking about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, because this one—one of the twelve—was going to betray him.)

Matthew 21:1–22 (LEB)
1And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2saying to them, “Go into the village before you, and right away you will find a donkey tied and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3And if anyone says anything to you, you will say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.”
4Now this took place so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,
5“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a pack animal.’ ”
6So the disciples went and did just as Jesus directed them,
7and brought the donkey and the colt and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them.
8And a very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them on the road.
9And the crowds who went ahead of him and the ones who followed were shouting, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
10And when he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee!”
12And Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all those who were selling and buying in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling doves.
13And he said to them, “It is written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a cave of robbers!”
14And the blind and the lame came up to him in the temple courts and he healed them.
15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children shouting in the temple courts and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant.
16And they said to him, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” So Jesus said to them, “Yes, have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of children and nursing babies you have prepared for yourself praise’?”
17And leaving them, he went outside of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.
18Now early in the morning, as he was returning to the city, he was hungry.
19And seeing a single fig tree by the road, he went to it and found nothing on it except leaves only. And he said to it, “May there be no more fruit from you forever, and the fig tree withered at once.
20And when they saw it, the disciples were astonished, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?”
21And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will do not only what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” it will happen!
22And whatever you ask in prayer, if you believe, you will receive.”

Mark 10:13–31 (LEB)
13And they were bringing young children to him so that he could touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
14But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant, and said to them, “Let the young children come to me. Do not forbid them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
15Truly I say to you, whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a young child will never enter into it.”
16And after taking them into his arms, he blessed them, placing his hands on them.
17And as he was setting out on his way, one individual ran up and knelt down before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?”
18So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
19You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’ ”
20And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth.”
21And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all that you have, and give the proceeds to the poor—and you will have treasure in heaven—and come, follow me.”
22But he looked gloomy at the statement and went away sorrowful, because he had many possessions.
23And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who possess wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!”
24And the disciples were astounded at his words. But Jesus answered and said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter into the kingdom of God!
25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.”
26And they were very astounded, saying to one another, “And who can be saved?”
27Jesus looked at them and said, “With human beings it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
28Peter began to say to him, “Behold, we have left everything and followed you.”
29Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields on account of me and on account of the gospel
30who will not receive a hundred times as much now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and fields, together with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.
31But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Matthew 12:1–14 (LEB)
1At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. And his disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck off heads of grain and eat them.
2But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Behold, your disciples are doing what it is not permitted to do on the Sabbath!”
3So he said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those with him,
4how he entered into the house of God and ate the bread of the presentation, which it was not permitted for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?
5Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath and are guiltless?
6But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here!
7And if you had known what it means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.
8For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
9And going on from there he came into their synagogue.
10And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying, “Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?” in order that they could accuse him.
11But he said to them, “What man will there be among you who will have one sheep and if this one fell into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?
12Then to what degree is a man worth more than a sheep? So then, it is permitted to do good on the Sabbath.”
13Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand,” and he stretched it out, and it was restored as healthy as the other one.
14But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him in order that they could destroy him.

John 11:1–20 (LEB)
1Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
2(Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3So the sisters sent word to him, saying, “Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.”
4And when he heard it, Jesus said, “This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5(Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.)
6So when he heard that he was sick, then he remained in the place where he was two days.
7Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.”
8The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were seeking just now to stone you, and are you going there again?”
9Jesus replied, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks around in the daylight, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
10But if anyone walks around in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.
11He said these things, and after this he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I can awaken him.”
12So the disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.”
13(Now Jesus had been speaking about his death, but they thought that he was speaking about real sleep.)
14So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus has died,
15and I am glad for your sake that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
16Then Thomas (the one who is called Didymus) said to his fellow disciples, “Let us go also, so that we may die with him.”
17So when he arrived, Jesus found he had already been four days in the tomb.
18(Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia.
19So many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary in order to console them concerning their brother.)
20Now Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him, but Mary was sitting in the house.

Luke 4:16–30 (LEB)
16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and according to his custom he entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbath and stood up to read.
17And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him, and unrolling the scroll he found the place where it was written,
18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because of which he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to send out in freedom those who are oppressed,
19to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
20And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were looking intently at him.
21And he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22And they were all speaking well of him, and were astonished at the gracious words that were coming out of his mouth. And they were saying, “Is this man not the son of Joseph?”
23And he said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this parable: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ Whatever we have heard that took place in Capernaum, do here in your hometown also!”
24And he said, “Truly I say to you that no prophet is acceptable in his own hometown.
25But in truth I say to you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut for three years and six months while a great famine took place over all the land.
26And Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was made clean except Naaman the Syrian.”
28And all those in the synagogue were filled with anger when they heard these things.
29And they stood up and forced him out of the town and brought him up to the edge of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.
30But he passed through their midst and went on his way.

John 7:37–44 (LEB)
37Now on the last day of the feast—the great day—Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink,
38the one who believes in me. Just as the scripture said, ‘Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.’ ”
39(Now he said this concerning the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive. For the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.)
40Then, when they heard these words, some from the crowd began to say, “This man is truly the Prophet!”
41Others were saying, “This man is the Christ!” But others were saying, “No, for the Christ does not come from Galilee, does he?
42Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
43So there was a division in the crowd because of him.
44And some of them were wanting to seize him, but no one laid hands on him.

Matthew 5:38–48 (LEB)
38“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’
39But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer, but whoever strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other to him also.
40And the one who wants to go to court with you and take your tunic, let him have your outer garment also.
41And whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
43“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’
44But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven, because he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not the tax collectors also do the same?
47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing that is remarkable? Do not the Gentiles also do the same?
48Therefore you be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.
