    Luke 5:17–26 (LEB)
17And it happened that on one of the days as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was there in order for him to heal.
18And behold, men came carrying on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and place him before him.
19And when they did not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the roof tiles with the stretcher into the midst of them, in front of Jesus.
20And when he saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
21And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins except God alone?”
22But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts?
23Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk?’
24But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the one who was paralyzed, “I say to you, ‘Get up and pick up your stretcher and go to your home.’ ”
25And immediately he stood up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went away to his home, glorifying God.
26And amazement seized them all, and they began to glorify God. And they were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen wonderful things today!”

    Matthew 12:1–21 (LEB)
1At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. And his disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck off heads of grain and eat them.
2But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Behold, your disciples are doing what it is not permitted to do on the Sabbath!”
3So he said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those with him,
4how he entered into the house of God and ate the bread of the presentation, which it was not permitted for him or for those with him to eat, but only for the priests?
5Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath and are guiltless?
6But I tell you that something greater than the temple is here!
7And if you had known what it means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.
8For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
9And going on from there he came into their synagogue.
10And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying, “Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?” in order that they could accuse him.
11But he said to them, “What man will there be among you who will have one sheep and if this one fell into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out?
12Then to what degree is a man worth more than a sheep? So then, it is permitted to do good on the Sabbath.”
13Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand,” and he stretched it out, and it was restored as healthy as the other one.
14But the Pharisees went out and plotted against him in order that they could destroy him.
15Now Jesus, when he learned of it, withdrew from there, and many followed him, and he healed them all.
16And he warned them that they should not reveal his identity,
17in order that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said,
18“Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
19He will not quarrel or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
20A crushed reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not extinguish, until he brings justice to victory.
21And in his name the Gentiles will hope.

    John 4:7–26 (LEB)
7A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me water to drink.”
8(For his disciples had gone away into the town so that they could buy food.)
9So the Samaritan woman said to him, “How do you, being a Jew, ask from me water to drink, since I am a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10Jesus answered and said to her, “If you had known the gift of God and who it is who says to you, ‘Give me water to drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
11The woman said to him, “Sir, you have no bucket and the well is deep! From where then do you get this living water?
12You are not greater than our father Jacob, are you, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, and his sons and his livestock?”
13Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again.
14But whoever drinks of this water which I will give to him will never be thirsty for eternity, but the water which I will give to him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”
15The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or come here to draw water!”
16He said to her, “Go, call your husband and come here.”
17The woman answered and said to him, “I do not have a husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have said rightly, ‘I do not have a husband,’
18for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you have now is not your husband; this you have said truthfully!”
19The woman said to him, “Sir, I see that you are a prophet.
20Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship.”
21Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman, that an hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews.
23But an hour is coming—and now is here—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for indeed the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers.
24God is spirit, and the ones who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); “whenever that one comes, he will proclaim all things to us.”
26Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.

    Mark 4:21–34 (LEB)
21And he said to them, “Surely a lamp is not brought so that it may be put under a bushel basket or under a bed, is it? Is it not so that it may be put on a lampstand?
22For nothing is secret except so that it may be revealed, nor has become hidden except so that it will come to light.
23If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”
24And he said to them, “Take care what you hear! With the measure by which you measure out, it will be measured out to you, and will be added to you.
25For whoever has, more will be given to him, and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”
26And he said, “The kingdom of God is like this: like a man scatters seed on the ground.
27And he sleeps and gets up, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows—he does not know how.
28By itself the soil produces a crop: first the grass, then the head of grain, then the full grain in the head.
29But when the crop permits, he sends in the sickle right away, because the harvest has come.”
30And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or by what parable can we present it?
31It is like a mustard seed that when sown on the ground, although it is the smallest of all the seeds that are on the ground,
32but when it is sown it grows up and becomes the largest of all the garden herbs, and sends out large branches so that the birds of the sky are able to nest in its shade.”
33And with many parables such as these he was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it.
34And he did not speak to them without a parable, but in private he explained everything to his own disciples.

    Luke 19:1–10 (LEB)
1And he entered and traveled through Jericho.
2And there was a man named Zacchaeus, and he was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.
3And he was seeking to see Jesus—who he was—and he was not able to as a result of the crowd, because he was short in stature.
4And he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree so that he could see him, because he was going to go through that way.
5And when he came to the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, because it is necessary for me to stay at your house today!”
6And he came down quickly and welcomed him joyfully.
7And when they saw it, they all began to complain, saying, “He has gone in to find lodging with a man who is a sinner!”
8And Zacchaeus stopped and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I am giving to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I am paying it back four times as much!”
9And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.
10For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who are lost.”

    Matthew 5:1–20 (LEB)
1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain and after he sat down, his disciples approached him.
2And opening his mouth he began to teach them, saying,
3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are the ones who mourn, because they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek, because they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are the ones who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be satisfied.
7Blessed are the merciful, because they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, because theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me.
12Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.
13“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, by what will it be made salty? It is good for nothing any longer except to be thrown outside and trampled under foot by people.
14You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden,
15nor do they light a lamp and place it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house.
16In the same way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17“Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy them but to fulfill them.
18For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one tiny letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all takes place.
19Therefore whoever abolishes one of the least of these commandments and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever keeps them and teaches them, this person will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say to you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven.

    Luke 6:37–49 (LEB)
37“And do not judge, and you will never be judged. And do not condemn, and you will never be condemned. Pardon, and you will be pardoned.
38Give, and it will be given to you, a good measure—pressed down, shaken, overflowing—they will pour out into your lap. For with the measure by which you measure out, it will be measured out to you in return.”
39And he also told them a parable: “Surely a blind person cannot lead the blind, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?
40A disciple is not superior to his teacher, but everyone, when he is fully trained, will be like his teacher.
41And why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the beam of wood that is in your own eye?
42How are you able to say to your brother, “Brother, allow me to remove the speck that is in your eye,” while you yourself do not see the beam of wood in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the beam of wood from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye!
43“For there is no good tree that produces bad fruit, nor on the other hand a bad tree that produces good fruit,
44for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn plants, nor are grapes harvested from thorn bushes.
45The good person out of the good treasury of his heart brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
46“And why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I tell you?
47“Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and does them—I will show you what he is like:
48he is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood came, the river burst against that house and was not able to shake it, because it had been built well.
49But the one who hears my words and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, which the river burst against, and immediately it collapsed—and the collapse of that house was great!”

    John 2:1–12 (LEB)
1And on the third day, there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding.
3And when the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine!”
4And Jesus said to her, “What does your concern have to do with me, woman? My hour has not yet come.”
5His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it!”
6Now six stone water jars were set there, in accordance with the ceremonial cleansing of the Jews, each holding two or three measures.
7Jesus said to them, “Fill the water jars with water.” And they filled them to the brim.
8And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward. So they took it.
9Now when the head steward tasted the water which had become wine and did not know where it was from—but the servants who had drawn the water knew—the head steward summoned the bridegroom
10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and whenever they are drunk, the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11This beginning of signs Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee, and revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
12After this he went down to Capernaum, and his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

    Mark 6:30–44 (LEB)
30And the apostles regathered to Jesus and reported to him everything that they had done and that they had taught.
31And he said to them, “You yourselves come privately to an isolated place and rest for a short time.” For those who were coming and going were many, and they did not even have time to eat.
32And they went away in the boat to an isolated place by themselves.
33And many people saw them leaving and recognized them, and ran there together by land from all the towns, and arrived ahead of them.
34And getting out of the boat he saw the large crowd and had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
35And the hour had already become late when his disciples came up to him, saying, “The place is desolate and the hour is already late.
36Send them away so that they can go into the surrounding farms and villages and purchase something to eat for themselves.”
37But he answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Should we go and purchase bread for two hundred denarii and give it to them to eat?”
38And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go look!” And when they found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.”
39And he ordered them all to recline in groups on the green grass.
40And they reclined in groups, by hundreds and by fifties.
41And taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples so that they could set them before them. And he distributed the two fish to them all.
42And they all ate and were satisfied.
43And they picked up the broken pieces, twelve baskets full, and of the fish.
44And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

    Matthew 11:28–30 (LEB)
28Come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30For my yoke is easy to carry and my burden is light.”
